snarkview: 8×20, the saga of felicia “her highness” day, volume-fucking-three.

supernaturalsnark says: Hi guys! The awesome Trish agreed to write up this episode for me because I’m still allergic to Felicia Day. Of course, because Jared Padalecki is a saint, I wasn’t able to miss out on the episode entirely because he decided to live tweet it. Thanks for that Jared.

Honestly, I’d have preferred a live tweet of an episode with Amelia in it. I want to know all about the chemistry he had with Liane! LOL.

Anyway, over to Trish!

Pac Man Fever, AKA The Saga of Felicia Day Volume 3
This episode was an annoying, pathetic event. The synopsis made it seem as if the whole episode centered around Felicia Day and Dean being stuck in a video game. Luckily this was only a small portion of the episode but sadly pac-man does not appear and chomp their heads off.

Felicia Day is to Supernatural what Scrappy-Doo was to the old Scooby-Doo cartoons. If you’ve seen them you know exactly what i mean, if not there’s always youtube! Quick note; I refuse to refer to Felicia Day’s character by her name because I will not have the name of one of my favorite TV characters associated with her. So from this point on she’s just FD.

FD character contacts Sam and Dean because she thinks she has a case for them.In honor of earth day, the writers recycled the djinn monster from season 2, the “I have a loved one stuck in a comatose state” ploy from season 3, and the dream root from season 3 (rehashville 339393.0!). It’s like they’re trying to subconsciously taint older episodes. No one dies (damn it) and no storyline progress is made whatsoever.

This was a “Let’s get to know more about Felicia!” episode. The writers also remembered those awful Chuck books from season 4. They are just as lame now as they were then. Guess what? FD read them and now knows all about the adventures of dumb & dumber so they’re all, like, the best of friends now! She should make like Chuck and disappear.

The video game sequence was lame. The episode ended on what I think was supposed to be a touching scene of FD and her comatose mom but I can’t be touched by someone I don’t give a rats ass about. I will at least say it was her least annoying scene ever.

Once every 26 episodes or so we get a glimpse of “Old Dean” (edit: I’m suppose that beats alcoholic Dean, who disappeared from our screens rather suddenly!). Old Dean emerged for a few seconds early on and said this: “Man, I’m telling you, give me 5 minutes with some clippers-” but Sam rudely declines the offer. Dean should have bribed him with some cake. He wasn’t super growly this week either, spooky. Sam was supposedly kind of useless because those trials are just so tough. Bullshit, he’s coming down from a cake eating binge. He just crashed and is suffering from a little withdrawal.

Sam at the start of the episode.

He still killed a Djinn and punched out Dean, so he wasn’t completely useless. Stupid contradicting writers.

Sam, just before killing the Djinn and his general revitalisation!!
Sam, just before killing the Djinn and his general revitalisation!!

When FD first appears Dean calls her “her highness” . Fuck you, man. That wasn’t even the most nauseating event if the night. We’re subjected to a “Walking on Sunshine” montage of FD trying on outfits. (Edit: LOL, could they not afford another song? She’s already had a WoS montage.) Dean eventually cuts off the song but he’s a bastard for not cutting it off much sooner. FD really likes the “Men who enjoy Alphabet Soup” house or whatever the hell it’s called. She flips out over this house as if it were a Tardis, or a Delorean. Apologies to those who don’t get the references 🙂

I didn’t understand bits of what any of them were saying. The three of them used strange lingo I am unfamiliar with and did not care to look up.Dean calls FD “A woman of the letters” at the end of the episode. I didn’t know whether to laugh or puke.

Here are some letters for you Dean:

DOUCHE

This wasn’t even one of those episodes that was so bad it was funny. It was just annoying, nauseating, and headache inducing. There was some development for the FD character but i’m not going into it. If you care, clearly you are in the wrong place. Need a laugh? Look at Felicia’s website. If you find a page and see “HI I’M FELICIA DAY.” in giant letters, you’re there! Something about the way she writes about herself in the introductory paragraphs made me laugh. She may be a nice person, that doesn’t mean she’s not lame and annoying.

This episode was brought to you by the letter H as in “Hell, not her again!”

Luckily, the SPN writers/cast are self-congratulatory enough for the rest of us and I’m sure they loved this episode.

  1. LOL, sounds like this episode wasn’t worth the time. Thanks for watching it on my behalf! 😀

I LOVE all of this but my favourite line is “In honor of earth day, the writers recycled the djinn monster from season 2 e writers recycled the djinn monster from season 2, the “I have a loved one stuck in a comatose state” ploy from season 3, and the dream root from season 3.”

IN HONOUR OF EARTH DAY. *dead*

    1. It was just a really weird episode. Sam was the only person I didn’t want to smack at some point. I have a hard time believing anyone in the real world speaking the way those 3 (especially Felicia) were. If anyone uses expressions like “holy pantsuit!” all the time, i hope i continue to avoid them. She really said something like that and it was unbelievably lame.
I guess “Walking on Sunshine” is her theme. It’s ridiculous but some delirious bastard found it necessary. Maybe Dean is still secretly drinking. It would explain how he can live with himself and tolerate the lameness around him. Idiot.
Yes it was earth day last week but that is not the kind of recycling we’re encouraged to take part in. Silly writers!
This episode was so dull it’s not even worth being bothered by it. I’m glad you enjoyed my little review of sorts 🙂
