The R Word

I’m not going to spend a long time talking about this, but I ventured into the #racism tag on here and surprisingly, it was full of all kinds of crazy opinions.

The hot topic seemed to be comments said by a Cambridge University student on Friday/Saturday, during a ‘riot’ that took place in East London.

The Cambridge University student who praised rioters who threw petrol bombs at police and claimed “all white people are racist” has defended his comments.

Jason Okundaye, 20, head of the Black and Minority Ethnic society at the university, came under fire on Saturday after posting a string of posts on Twitter.

His remarks followed violent protests in Hackney, east London, on Friday night (July 28) over the death of Rashan Charles following a struggle with police. But commenting on his social media posts, Okundaye said: “My tweet about all white people being racist was pulled out of context and separate to my tweets in support of the Dalston protests.

“My tweets on white racism had been said before, in response to people acting as if racism is exclusive to working class people.

“I stated that regardless of sexuality, class, gender or age, all white people are racist i.e. not just one type of white person.”

And the reference to ‘geddit’ refers to my previous tweets on how all demographics of whiteness can and should be called out for their racism and how it specifically manifests in their groups e.g. white middle-class people refusing to hire Black people killed, or white gay men stating ‘no blacks, no asians’ on dating apps such as Grindr.

So basically, this student called all white people racist.

Apparently that’s racist.

He also said that all white people could ‘geddit’.

Apparently that’s inciting violence.

Unfortunately there are some people who think black people are afforded special treatment these days. They think equal opportunity is some sort of ploy to steal everything they have. It isn’t. Some of them even think that they’re a minority now. They’re not. They’re really not.
What really pisses me off is the people that hear the word ‘racist’ and instead of taking a breath and calming down, they proceed to show you just how racist they truly are. Some of y’all would make shitty lawyers.

In my opinion, what this student said wasn’t racist. I don’t know how calling white people racist is racist. I can’t follow that logic. Either it’s true or false. What is racist is the people on Twitter calling black people ‘sub human’ and ‘ferals’. Or the people who say we should go back to Africa.

The difference is that I see that nonsense everyday, be it on comment sections, Twitter, wherever and it’s disgusting, but I can’t really do anything about it. I reported those tweets, but that won’t stop anything.

Here, we have one admittedly inflammatory comment and now everyone is up in arms. Now they care about racism (but only so they can tell us how NOT racist they are, while being racist).

They’re talking about expelling this student and prosecuting him for ‘inciting racial hatred’. That’s bullshit. I’ll admit that when I first read the news, my reaction was dude, what are you doing?? You can’t say that. Especially as a Cambridge student. Didn’t your parents tell you when to shut up! Also, hello, Cambridge!

When you’re black, you know that there will always be people ready to help you fail. You know that there are certain things you have to be careful about saying, especially around certain people. Forget context, you have to be mindful at all times. Perhaps Jason forgot himself and was so frustrated that he tweeted what he did. Maybe he was just fed up. We’ve all been at that point. I don’t think he deserves to lose his education over that.

I find it highly ironic that an MP had this to say:

Just a few weeks ago, I was being told that a term used by one of his colleagues – ‘nigger in the woodpile’  – was just from back in the day and that outrage over the word was political correctness gone mad.

Now… an opinion is ‘racial hatred’. Y’all need to make your mind up.

Or is it that certain people can say what they want and to hell with the rest of us?

Let me know.

stupid and senseless: don’t pizza lecki off

It’s the General Election Day in the UK! Apparently the Conservatives are on course to win…

…and if they do I will probably join the circus. It was nice knowing you all!
It’s also Comey Testifies Day in the US! And World’s Oceans Day. And… World’s Brain Tumour Day (I didn’t know that!)

It’s also I need a break from politics and shitty life day.

So, I’m going to revisit my favourite person who I have neglected of late due to apathy and having better things to do.

Here’s a post about Jared Padalecki being stupid.

Now I want pizza

Long story short: Jared ordered food using Favor. It didn’t turn up. He got pissed, huffed and puffed and took his complaints to Twitter.

I have no idea what happened past that his food didn’t show up, and he was annoyed.

Somehow he got talking to customer service and this tweet happened:

Dearest @ Favor “Kobe” at customer support needs to be fired. I’m sure he’d land happily with @united.

First of all dearest? What is this a greeting card? A letter to a long list friend? How courtship began in the 1950s? How do you waste seven out of one hundred and forty characters on dearest? His Twitter game is all the way off. Personally, I would have gone for a succinct ‘Yo’ or ‘Oi’. There’s passive aggressiveness and then there’s concision. The latter is more important.

Also, why – why – is he posting this person’s name on Twitter? Hasn’t he learnt? Oh, that’s right. Dude doesn’t give a fuck.

The tweet was posted (and deleted) in April. I didn’t see it back then, although, I did hear about it. I didn’t realise he straight up said the dude needed to be fired. For something that’s probably not his fault. And the ‘land happily with @united‘. I can’t work out what that was.

He wants Kobe to be violently mishandled off or onto a plane or just in general?

Or he thinks Kobe will land a job at United due to his poor customer service skills?

Or he’s just an idiot who really didn’t need to bring up United at all?

Correct answer wins a prize.

I saw the Pada Defense Warrior League hard at work. They insisted that Jared would never wish violence on anyone and that he felt horrible about what happened to the man on that United plane. And that he was within his rights to complain, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Something tells me that Jared felt more vindicated than horrible* when he saw that video. He was probably thinking, “THIS IS HOW TERRIBLY THEY TREAT ME MINUS THE VIOLENCE AND STUFF!!!!!!!!!”.
Everyone on his contact list probably got that video plus an essay about his unfair treatment.

Dearest Friends, if you haven’t yet had an opportunity to see this disgraceful act, here you go. Much of this justifies my complaints over the years!!!!!! I mean, weather delays, being forced to check a bag and every other petty thing imaginable almost equals the severity of this video when you add them all up and take into account my pain and suffering!….

Jim Beaver was also going at it with some fan, claiming that Jared has a right to complain. People were surprised, but Jim Beaver is never the voice of reason. Ever. That dude has no sense. I know I should respect my elders but people like him make it hard

I’m sure Kobe is just fine, but I am truly disturbed (yet not surprised) that Jared has no problem belittling people in this way. I’m disturbed that so many people think this is okay.

He talks about treating people fairly and kindly but doesn’t do the same to people he deems unworthy. No one who works in customer service is paid enough to deal with the bullshit. Sometimes, there’s absolutely nothing they can do, and customers getting pushy won’t change that.

On the flip side, yes customer support workers can be flippant and they shouldn’t be, but I probably would be too. You’re basically listening to people complain all day long. Sometimes as a human being (who breathes oxygen), you have to consider that the other person is just doing their job and that job doesn’t involve kissing your ass.

Like I’ve said before, the common denominator in Jared’s bad customer service experiences is him.

Anyway, if it’s alright for Jared to do it, I’m going to tweet the CW** and demand that they fire Jared because he’s annoying.

Hopefully he lands happily @ somewhere far away from any television screen.

*I’m joking, wildly speculating, opinion, didn’t happen, please don’t sue, or leave abusive messages etc etc.

**Not actually going to do this. See above.

On behalf of London, f**k Donald Trump

Much love & prayers to anyone who was caught up in the London Bridge attack on Saturday night. 💜❤

~

In the aftermath of the attack I was trying to keep up with everything and what did I see? Updates from Trump’s Twitter. Given that I was personally freaked out because London Bridge isn’t too far from me, I was wondering how someone who was there and looking for updates would feel when they saw the shit Trump was spewing.

Distasteful doesn’t even cover it.

First of all, what does his Travel Ban (thought it wasn’t a ban!) have to do with an attack halfway across the world? Two, we don’t know yet if this attack was carried out by British born people or not. Given that the majority of the terrorists who carried out attacks on US soil were homegrown, the Travel Ban won’t help much there either.

Thirdly, what kind of world leader jumps off a tragedy that has only occurred to push through their isolationist and discriminatory agenda?

One that’s got no fucking scruples.

Wow. Yes, that’s it. If we were armed, we’d all be okay. Wrong. How many people in America lose their lives to needless gun violence? Focus on your own shit before you start making suggestions. Again, classless.

The Mayor (who just happens to be Muslim) was talking about the increased police presence. He was saying that there’s no reason to be alarmed, and that people should go on as normal. This is the kind of level headed response you expect from leaders. Not frothing at the mouth and tiny fingers on Twitter.

People who reject political correctness are often people who want to be dickheads with no repercussion. Trump was all for it when Kathy Griffin tweeted that picture (and no I’m not defending that, just saying that it goes both ways). Oh, it’s a different matter when his kids are upset. What about the Muslim kids being bullied, the increased level of hate and intolerance in America? That’s okay, right, so long as we’re all singing Trump’s praises, fuck everyone else.

I can only speak for myself, but I personally don’t need Trump’s blessings, or need his solidarity. He can go and fuck himself.

What a typo to be alive

I tend to get a bunch of news alerts while not on my phone, and one I got today was about the horrible terrorist attack in Afghanistan. The numbers I saw were 80 dead and 350 injured. I flicked through my news apps but it was buried under stuff about Trump and climate change, Macron, UK election news etc.

I went on BBC, just to see what else was going on and stumbled onto an article about what ‘covfefe‘ meant.

I was trying to kill time so I saw through it, my frown burrowing as the article got decreasingly funny.

We’re All Looking At The Wrong Set Of Facts.

Oh dear.

In reply to the first tweet, what a dick. His surrogates don’t have the right accuracy because they’re being led by someone who has no idea what the fuck they’re doing. It’s like being a Ronald McDonald underling. One day he might want you to wear green socks and the next, he might want you to wear blue and you find out which one on the day after you’ve gotten dressed and arrived for work.

So, is it any surprise that we get this:

FBI Director James Comey committed “atrocities” when investigating former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s emails, deputy White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday.

Atrocities?

Well, damn. Wasn’t Trump telling it to the mountains when Comey was indirectly doing his bidding. Now he’s commited atrocities? Yeah, he won you guys the election. I’d say that’s a fucking atrocity.

Not another one!

Big up to Brenda from Bristol. That was my reaction also, but with far less profanity. Next time I’m exasperated, I’m going to channel my inner Brenda.

For those of you not well versed in British politics, a snap election was called today. Yeah, they can more or less call one whenever they want to. You just ring up the queen and say, “Yo, Lizzy, I wanna make a political wave, you good, boo?

In an ideal world, we’d all be excited, but the opposition party is a mess.

In 2015, we had a General Election, in 2016, we had that disastrous EU referendum and in 2017, we now have ANOTHER general election.

stupid and senseless: focusing on the hard stuff

I was taking a break from compiling my Trump post when I stumbled upon this:

This isn’t particularly stupid or senseless but if felt wrong not including it in the title.

Anyway!

Noticing the typo is one thing. Most of us would be like, ‘huh’ and move on, but okay. Taking a picture and trying to call CNN out on Twitter (all while having nothing to say about the very serious matter that they’re reporting on) is another thing. One might say that it says a lot about your character, but Jared’s got such a big heart that this was probably his subtle way of raising awareness.

A couple of people called him out in his mentions, and typically the Pada Warrior Defense League were on hand to do their thing.

Siiiiiiiigh.

stupid and senseless, edition #101

Another day, another airline.

Jensen’s also decided that bitching to airlines on Twitter is a good look and he’s…upset that he didn’t get an upgrade…

@JensenAckles: @AlaskaAir with years of loyalty and full status, how do I lose my position on the upgrade list. #NotImpressed

What does full status even mean? Is this some kind of frequent flyer lingo or does he mean that he’s full status? Like him being a fading TV star means that he’s somebody? Ew. And isn’t the point of an upgrade list that if there’s enough seats available, you’re bumped up? Even if it isn’t, I can understand Jensen’s plight. Flying with lowly little people who can’t defend themselves must be hard, hard work….if you’re an asshole.

The end is coming.

It looks like Jensen Ackles is getting a Twitter account. May God save us all and protect us from any further ‘deuchebaggery’. I haven’t followed it yet because I can’t be bothered and I don’t want to make the same mistake I did with Misha and Jared. And well, I don’t really like him all that much LOL. #sorrynotsorry

Speaking of Twitter a friend told me that Jared’s last airline rant turned into #duhpocalypse and people were posting mock pictures and stuff. It was kind of amusing. My fave pic was this one:
