Happy New Year + 2017 roundup.

Last year I posted… uh, well, not a lot. Or it wasn’t structured or cohesive at any rate.
That’s not going to change.

Supernatural watchers, I’m still on a hiatus/neveragainatus. However, all of the posts will remain up because a lot of them are still quite popular. I guess that’s either a testament to my great wit or the garbage that masquerades as the show these days. If you’d like to discuss the show, there’s an extremely dead open post on the sidebar and you can contact me via email (spnsnark[at]gmail etc).

There will be more movie and TV reviews on the way when I find something that doesn’t put me to sleep. I might even read a book! Or two.

The Girl Who Hates Everything does not live on. I love everything now. Seriously.

The Real World: Trump Administration…is on hiatus, much like the administration’s common sense. Same goes for the other political posts. I toyed with making a political blog but then I came to my senses. Life is depressing enough. Two blogs that do a better job than I ever did are Mock Paper Scissors and Trumptimestamp. Brexit no longer exists to me.

The Real World: Trump Administration: Week 17 – A little less conversation and a little more ignorance, please

Anyway, let’s get down to it. I’ve missed a lot in my absence, but I’m just gonna cover what I’ve read in the past two days lol. Trump’s trip has sort of shoved all the other news to one side.

I can’t believe I am still writing these. It’s a testament to my lack of fresh snark material, it really is. That being said, it has been good to keep up with everything. The amount of ignorance on display is ridiculous.

So, this week, the first article I stumbled upon contained this:

When asked if he thought he had changed how people vote, Mr Trump pointed to his “very high ratings”, claiming they increased by two or three times when he appeared on the Sunday morning shows. He highlighted Chris Wallace’s Fox News show.

“It had 9.2 million people. It’s the highest they’ve ever had. On any, on air, [CBS’ John] Dickerson had 5.2 million people,” he said.

“It’s the highest for ‘Face the Nation’ or as I call it, ‘Deface the Nation’. It’s the highest for ‘Deface the Nation’ since the World Trade Center. Since the World Trade Center came down. It’s a tremendous advantage.”

What. The. Actual. Fuck. What is wrong with him? Why is he comparing the ratings of his disaster of a Presidency to an actual disaster? Why the obsession with ratings? It’s weird. Oh, wait, rampant narcissism. Got it.

The Real World: London/ Trump Administration, Week 9

First of all, I  want to say something about the London (Westminster) terror attack really quickly. I don’t usually comment on these things because I feel like everyone reacts differently and it’s easy to end up saying the wrong thing. However, I’m a Londoner and it is alarming to think that someone could just do that to all of those people. It’s needless and extremely sad. My heart goes out to those that died and their loved ones.

Of course, in the aftermath, there was the usual Islamophobic nonsense. It always really irritates me because innocent people dying is not an excuse to try and score points or make useless comments that help no one.

The Real World: Trump Administration, week 8 – more of the same shit

I missed last week’s post because I was so tired. This week is even worse but here I am. I’m somewhat out of the loop with regards to the US. The UK media actually started focusing on the mess the current government are doing and it’s been Brexit, Brexit, The Queen gave royal assent aka meaningless permission to invoke Article 50, Brexit, Brexit. I think most of us just want them to shut up. At the same time, it’s crazy that they basically admit that they have no idea what the fuck they’re doing. I might just do a post on it one of these days.

I was so tired in the past week that I basically took a few days off from the news so I don’t cover a lot this week. I’ve left out the stuff about the new DNC chairman and the latest on healthcare reform but hey, there’s always next week.
