For the millionth year in a row, my goal is simple. To read 52 books. Although, considering that I’ve only completed two, I might need to revise my goal. Still, I’m enjoying getting back into the habit. Technically, I’m always reading, but I’ve been wanting to make books more of what I read.
I’m good at starting books, acquiring books, writing half a book.
Finishing them, though? Good luck with that. It also doesn’t help that books are now on various devices. It just adds to my laziness.
Anyway, this year I am cheating my own system. I’m going to pad out that 52 book count with easy, easy reads. I’m currently hate-reading an easy read now, just ‘cuz. I’m reading some other books which will take me longer periods and those will be my difficult reads. Some of these books aren’t that difficult, I just find it difficult to read too much at a time. I blame Reddit.
Reading is fun, though.
I always forget how much fun it can be to lose yourself in a good book.
You can learn new words, and if you’re a perpetual aspiring writer like me – you figure out what you’d never do in your book. I like seeing different writing styles, different chaptering systems.
And, in all honesty, I have nothing to watch. I’ve been bored back into reading. I was watching Person of Interest for a while but season 4 was so weird and different that I’m taking a break. I watched Superman & Lois (loved it!) and some BBC shows (six episodes and done, yes please). Everything else doesn’t appeal.
There was an old show I planned to start watching – The Sopranos, maybe? I can’t even remember.
I am contemplating Lost and I never made it past the first season of that show.
It’s hard out here for a bored sista, let me tell ya.
Maybe I’ll finally finish The Wire one of these days.
To conclude, this is my accountability post.
I will complete 52 books this year even if I have to read comic books to get myself to that number.
Total books read so far: 2.
